Writing as Play
Writing can be a form of play. It can be a form of rest.
I feel like the AI discussion in most writing circles misses the most important point to not use AI.
Writing can be a form of play. It can be a form of rest.
The act of writing is the point.
For some, the goal of writing is having a finished product, but for me, it's the writing itself that I love. I enjoy exploring worlds that exist in my own mind. If I started using AI to plan and explore and write, I'd be robbing myself of one of my greatest joys.
Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves. We put the cart before the horse and imagine a finished book before we have even a fully fleshed idea.
The other day, a member of my local community said that she is trying her hand at writing a book, but isn't sure she's good enough to make something of it. I offered to meet her for a writing date if she thinks it would be helpful. Really, I just hope I can convince her that, as she thinks about and rounds out this idea, and starts building a world, that this is the time for play and exploration.
